It was a cold, silent Saturday eve, almost 8pm. And I woke my
roommate up to go for a walk through the streets. Gotta pay the room rent
from Netbank, so have to deposit a few colorful notes in my account. The ATM
was 1km away and Internet showed there is cash deposition as well, but we
seldom knew it's an envelope deposit, which takes time to credit to account.
The next destination was the Coles-supermarket, less than a kilometer away, to buy the stuff for our combined kitchen-cooking experiments!
Hardly
covered half the way. An old man, appearing to be in his 60’s, laying fell down in
the middle of the road with bleeding on his back of the head!! Two people
parking their car and rushing towards him. The street light above his head
highlights him from the dark background.
We were frozen up first and then ran
towards the man, luckily he was conscious! Here,
I made blunder question to the other people- one middle age couple- "Did
you hit him!"? She was
shocked to hear that and replied "Oh! God. No! Just saw him like
this".I felt too bad and apologized for my question.
The man was
trying to stand up, but he couldn't. The smell of Rum. He tried to tell, he was returning
from a weekend party and fell down on the road hitting his head. We wanted our
best to call an ambulance, but he didn’t let us.
"WTF!!! I am OK!"
"You
are not OK.. See the blood.. Please listen to us"
"I don’t have 2000 bucks
to pay for police and ambulance"!
Finally, we made him to sit in the
nearby tram waiting shed and did ask for any contact numbers. "Please leave me.. I am OK..
Don’t call my wife.. She is in her 70’s..Please..Thanks for the help...!!" -A
big question for my humanity and intuition. We four spend half an hour with him
to get any contact numbers, but we were helpless and had to leave when he
started shouting at us.Hope he is fine now..
NB: Drinking is OK; but don’t
be a nuisance to society and threaten your own life, there is another world-
when the OFF goes off.
